Retail & Food courts

AT DESIGN INTERNATIONAL

I work for Design International for 3 years since 2015. During my practice, I had the opportunity to work on over 20 big-scale projects all over the world. During this time I was responsible for various steps of project development, from the first concept ideas and schemes to the final detail design.

Design International specializes in retail and commercial architecture, designing and revitalizing the biggest shopping malls. The projects I was involved in the most is Valle Aurelia AURA shopping mall which is already constructed, where I was responsible for the development of external and internal facades, foodcourt elements, kiosks, and detail design.

Pompei Maxi Mall where I was responsible for plans, sections, and facades development and preparing drawings for construction permits. As well for cinema and hotel facades and 3D development with post production.

Caselle Designers Village which is outlet near Torino airport. Where I was responsible for design of interior elements like piazzas and shopfronts and 3D model development.

In many other projects I was developing concepts and schemetic designs, deciding graphic styles, 3D modelling, managing visualizations and presentations.

Maximall Pompeii

MORE THAN SHOPPING

Maximall, the innovative shopping resort will rise not far from the famous archaeological site of Pompeii, in the magnificent setting of Vesuvius in the city called Torre Annunziata

An old abandoned industrial area is transforming into a real social center capable of responding to multiple needs. The project site is well connected with areas nearby and is situated near the train station and the A3 highway.
It's not a simple shopping center, but a series of
urban spaces open to the public (6 ha), a large outdoor auditorium, 130 keys hotel, cinema, and more than 6,000 car parking, making the intervention an opportunity for urban rebirth. Maximall will become a tourist attraction, commercial, and entertainment center.

The starting point for the design was inspired by the ancient city Pompeii and Vulcano Vesuvio which destroyed the city 2000 years ago. Some of the old site structures will remain in order to create a historical quote in the new context and enhance their architectural quality. The piezometric tower, an artifact of the fifties, 54 m high, will become a landmark for the area, visible from big distances.

It's an investment of 170 million euros where the project lot area is above 2,000,000 sf, and the building size is 721,980 sf.

My role in the project:

- developing plans, sections, elevations, parking, and landscaping in AutoCAD;

- project modeling and rendering in 3D Max + Vray and Photoshop;

- designing multiple building elements like hotel and cinema facades;

- designing public areas, and piazzas;

- coordinating works with team members and engineers, landscape architects;

Food courts

VARIETY OF PROJECTS

Food courts are the best areas to give a soul to shopping malls and public spaces. The well-designed area will attract more people and make them stay longer. All elements must work together to create an interesting overall composition where it's easy to navigate and give a feeling of the organization to avoid chaos in those large spaces.

I worked on multiple projects large-scale food courts like Le Befane Shopping Center restyling in Rimini (image on the left), Valle Aurelia an Urban Shopping Mall in Rome, and Caselle Open Mall in Torino.

My role in some projects:

- building and site survey;

- concept and design;

- developing diagrams plans, sections, and elevations in AutoCAD with post-production in Photoshop or Illustrator;

- modeling and rendering in 3ds Max with postproduction in Photoshop;

- competition panels;

Mall experience

VARIETY OF PROJECTS

I worked on multiple large-scale shopping mall projects and refurbishments in Italy and the Middle East. Every mall had to have its own personality and be recognizable, the clients always had a particular vision which I was able to convey into a design that would be attractive and unique. The key elements are visibility of signage and shopfronts and easy orientation in the mall. Natural light and night illumination usually played a crucial role to give an extraordinary effect. I contributed to projects like Caselle in Torino (image on the right), Valle Aurelia Urban Mall in Rome, Le Befane Mall refurbishment, Continente in Paulo, Cleopatra Mall in Egypt, and Vulcano Buono in Naples.

My role in some projects:

- building and site survey;

- concept and design;

- developing diagrams plans, sections, and elevations in AutoCAD with post-production in Photoshop or Illustrator;

- modeling and rendering in 3ds Max with postproduction in Photoshop;

- competition panels;
