DEALERSHIPS & CANNABIS
AT PROTO-INC COMPANY
I worked a year at PROTOinc since the beginning of 2021 as an architectural designer. I was working on various car dealership projects and cannabis growth facilities. Besides that, I was helping the office with the transition from CAD to Revit program. I had the opportunity to work directly with clients, contractors, structural and MEP engineers, and landscape architects. I was producing entitlement sets, construction documents, and moving projects into Revit.
PROTOinc specializes in dealerships, residential, and cannabis production/dispensary facilities. My work was mainly focused on car dealerships. All projects I was involved in were located in Bay Area CA, which gave me an occasion to watch work progress and do site surveys. My 8 various size building renovation/transformation projects taught me a better understanding of building systems, materials, and constraints of existing structures.
New Honda
SAN CARLOS DEALERSHIP
Honda plans to renovate the building at 268 Industrial Road by upgrading the facade of the 23,600-square-foot existing structure in accordance with Honda branding. Two sheds will also be demolished and paved over as part of remediation efforts, a process for removing soil toxins built up over decades of industrial uses. The site was previously home to a manufacturer of batteries and other equipment. This upgrade of an existing underused building will beautify the surrounding industrial area.
Honda's new dealership design takes up less square footage and is modular and flexible; what was once showroom space, for example, can be transformed into offices for employees. It’ll also have electric vehicle chargers, parking for 134 inventory and customer cars with 34 new trees giving shade to this large paved area.
The project lot area is 93,233 sf and building height will reamain the same, 26 ft.
My role in the project:
- building and site survey;
- developing all plans, sections, elevations, parking, and landscaping in Revit;
- producing entitlement set;
- coordinating works with civil, MEP engineers, landscape architects, and client;

Purple Oaks
CANNABIS CULTIVATION FACILITY IN OAKLAND
Indoor cultivation facilities involve very complex spaces that require a great deal of coordination between the grower and design and construction teams in order to position the operation for long-term success. Purple Oaks project is a transformation of the existing storage facility into a cannabis cultivation facility.
In the first project phase, all interior divisions had to be demolished, ADA ramps, and additional emergency exists needed to be added. In the second project phase, on the ground level, there will be added: flower cultivation and drying areas, R&D, and storage. The second level would provide an office, and an area for employees.
The project lot area is 81,732 sf and the height of the building will remain 26.5’.
My role in the project:
- building and site survey;
- producing entitlement set;
- developing all plans, sections, and elevations in Revit;
- coordinating work with the client;
Fiat to KIA
PUTNAM BURLINAGME
KIA is a new Putnam's addition to Burlingame’s auto dealership row. The building was occupied previously by Fiat and Maserati brands. This small building transformation includes new cladding and signage outside, and a new interior layout. The goal of the project was to create a KIA dealership and try to keep some elements from the previous design, like showroom pavement, without compromising the KIA brand style.
The total lot size is 28,000 square feet and the building area is 12,723 square feet.
My role in the project:
- creating all plans, sections, and elevations in AutoCAD;
- preparing construction documents and going through permitting process with the city;
- coordinating project with the client and contractor;
- following construction progress;
